ICT is the combination of Information Technology, Communication Technology. Both of the fields are necessity for a country to develop. Now it is not giving only the benefit, inspite it is becoming need of life.

The best way to accentuate this question is by imagining that ICT (can be exemplified with broadband) as a blood in the body. It brings many things to all part of the body as also the ICT, thanks to its characteristics as a general purpose technology, have brought into daily life. The benefits range from providing the end users services to also enabling intermediate functions for further production process for other sectors. Recently, some sectors not belong to ICT sectors are in fact ICT user sector. The impact of ICT is therefore quantifiable in driving growth, creating jobs and supporting other socioeconomic variables namely health and education.

Good question, in the case of Mexico, we have a national policy about that topic, but we don't have good results yet. Its importance is recognized, but we do not know how to encourage this kind of activity. One problem are the mononopolies in the sector of ICT.

To continue the debate almost every country has formulated its own ICT policy. Majority of the countries has either independent ministry or attached with some ministry or regulatory authority.

I will go straight by saying that ICT add more value to the national revenue and reduces unemployment rate especially in the developing countries.

I agree with Ishola. I should add here that growth of the ICT infrastructure has a positive effect on Net Foreign Direct Investment inflows into developing countries. Remember that the ICT infrastructure (both physical and institutional) is crucial for attracting both Foreign Direct Investment and Equity Portfolio Investment into developing countries, which is a very obvious thing. If for example, a developing country wants spur economic growth through value added exports growth, ICT infrastructure growth is a MUST in order to attract the two types of capital inflows I have mentioned above. .

ICT gives various benefit to a nation. It improve government agencies services, improve the economy as a business can be transacted across a boundary without much political hassle and the citizen became more innovative with research and knowledge sharing initiatives.

Good answers. The strategies for the implementation of ICT nationwide depend on the technological infrastructure of each country. The truth is that most companies have found new ways of management and business process globalizacación requires interconnect companies in business environments involving customers and suppliers, consider environmental, social, economic, and political factors , and for this is neccesary ICT at the national level, there are its best benefits.

ICT has huge benefits. ICT brings in transparency, and objectivity . Decision making becomes fast. It also helps in streamlining various government processses. e-governance is enabled by ICT only. In a country like India, ICT has helped in making democracy vibrant and transparent. Look at the way ICT has played role in smooth conduct of recent elections. (voting machine, web casting of voting , counting enabled by ICT etc.)

IT has made the processes citizen centric.

ICT may help only if you have clear vision and clear policy of information exchange with your countryman. If your targets are clear it is ok but even if your targets are not really clear but you know, you want to do something which is correct and beneficial in long term, than ICT is an excellent tool. It helps.

ICT serves as a catalyst to development at national level which enhances transparency
