Hi Deewakar,

there is a opportunity to use supercritical CO2 for HPLC analysis, in analytical and even preparative scale. It is called SFC, supercritical chromatography. The beauty behind that is that you do not need to evaporate the solvent from the system, e.g. after purification of a reaction mixture, you just need to wait few minutes until the sample is dry. We do not have this in our institute, but this would be a massive benefit especially for in-house routine synthesis in large scales (> 500 mg).

The main industrial application of supercritical fluid is the extraction of bioactive compounds from plant materials (hops, coffee, tobacco, spices, medicinal and aromatic plants). I read some in one the article that these could be used in microelectronic and space technology. I am still looking for pertinent literature wherein their hydrodynamics/heat transfer study may be involved. Most of the ones I came across have been from chemistry view point whilst I am looking from physics .

Meanwhile I will go through the mentioned literature.

As mentioned above extraction is a field where it is really usefull. Also fat micronization (melt micronization) is practical and used on pretty large scale. Dying of textiles supposedly works on large scale, but I am not sure

We can find huge number of literatures studied the supercritical extraction fluids, these can involve two or three fluids like Co2 and water, I look for literatures study the characterestics of other fluids especialy the hydrocarbones.
