There is a steel pipe rack with normal framing system including horizontal and vertical bracing systems, all the connections of the horizontal bracing are defected, for some reasons it is nearly impossible to re-weld the connections without a shutdown for the operation. What are the alternatives for horizontal bracing system? For example adding new members and removing the horizontal bracing members completely as in the portal framing which is an alternative for vertical bracing.
Hi, if the weld connection is not a must for the project, I think a cable bracing system with bolt connections can be installed as the horizontal bracing of the pipe rack.
I agree with Gholamrezq Answer,
Rather than going for welded connection in bracing system it can be done by bolted connection because when it is needed to change its length bolted connection shows ease in fabric works, if you don't want to go for horizontal bracing system, vertical bracing system such as k- type, c-type can be choosen.
Any building can be stable without horizontal bracing and lateral loads can be carried by the beams of the frame to the vertical bracing
