There have been many methods used to measure and determine the bleeding time. One of these methods involves the use of the ear lobe. What are the advantages of performing the bleeding time on the earlobe? Does it carry less risk of infection and bleeding? Is this method more reliable than the other methods?

The bleeding time (BT) is an oldest test to determine an abnormality in hemostasis. It is an easy examination to be conducted and carries minimal complications. Its correlation with coagulation defects and/or platelet dysfunctions has been well established. Note that BT should be considered as a screening perspective, abnormal BT result leads to subsequent hematological evaluations.
