Dear Colleagues,
RE: my project Science and Art Connection
I have a play script on the modern experimental composer Charles Ives. I am seeking a young composer not too conventional to work with me on transforming this script into an opera. Ives thought and wrote music outside what people understood, so they thought him very strange. But . . . that is just because people always think this about what they don't "get," as yet. But there is no final answer because Ives thought the universe was not a closed system--one that is all neatly packaged for us to understand. We may sometime get to a point of knowing or maybe not, but some of us will always try.
Ives embodied this philosophy in his short composition "The Unanswered Question." I liked his famous statement--while others were going for style and formal perfection--"What has sound got to do with music?"

I am going to write the libretto for this opera. There are a few pages of tips on writing libretti. Are there any librettists here at RG? I could use some basics.
I found this web page. It is a start. What do you think?
