I need to calculate the amount of dye loaded in a mesoporus semiconductor architecture. Please suggest the best way to find the adsorbed dye estimation.
you can estimate the dye loading by desorbing your dye in 0.1M NaOH solution in a solvent mixture of EtOH:Water (1:1 %v/v) and measure the UV/vis absorption. To get the dye-loading, you should first get the absorbance of different concentrations of your dye in 0.1 M NaOH solution as well (cal. curve/ref. data) and compare the absorbance of the solution containing desorbed dyes with the ref. data.
Knowing your dye loading you might then calculate the theoretical injection rate of electrons and compare it with the actual figure obtained from experiments. This will give you the fraction of the dye doing something useful in your cell, not just 'there for the ride'.
Dear, Ruri Agung Wahyuono it is acceptable for organic dyes, since I am using Bio-pigments how for it is reliable and valid??? Ex. I am using Bacteriorhodopsin as a sensitizer... Shall I extent same procedure for Bio-pigments also.
