I work as a lecturer in HCUC, London, in PMLD department.
I am interested in new technology, tools, methods -that can support my students in learning to communicate effectively.
Stage 1
1. Show pictures or photos on screen.
2. Individually, ask students to describe what do they see.
Stage 2
1. Write topics on board.
2. Ask students to select a topic.
3. Get students to talk about the selected topic to his/her partner and vice versa.
4. Teacher observes and listens to students.
Dear Shamsul , thank You for Your reply.
It is great to know all the useful tips and methods.
Do You teach SEN students?
I am going to use all above tomorrow, during my sessions.
Thank You!
Iwona
Hello, Iwona,
You could assist your students by helping them to create communication picture symbol boards or booklets to use in responding to you.
Do you require verbal interaction or can it be a combination of verbal and visual?
It depends on the individual SEN - if you teach a student with visual impairment, hearing impairment, ASD, or any other kind of disadvantage... There is no general advice suitable for all.
