I'm doing my final year project related to Effective Microorganism. I need some resources that can give me clear ideas about it and can guide me to produce my own formulation.
Effective Microorganisms (EM) are mixed cultures of beneficial naturally-occurring organisms that can be applied as inoculants to increase the microbial diversity of soil ecosystem. They consist mainly of the photosynthesizing bacteria, lactic acid bacteria, yeasts, actinomycetes and fermenting fungi. These microorganisms are physiologically compatible with one another and can coexist in liquid culture. There is evidence that EM inoculation to the soil can improve the quality of soil, plant growth and yield (Kengo and Hui-lian, 2000). Please find enclsoed a PDf to understand the nutrient -microbe-plant synergy

Effective microorganisms are those which have the ability to mobilize nutritionally important elements from non-usable to usable forms through biological processes. They are environment friendly and cost-effective supplement to fertilizers and organic manures. They are broadly classified into, nitrogen fixing bacteria, phosphate solubilizing microorganisms, phosphatase and phytase producng organisms/phosphate mobilizing organisms, organic matter decomposers etc. The most important groups are: rhizobium, azotobacter, azospirillum, frankia, blue green algae,PSM, arbuscular mycorrhizae, PGPR, cellulolytic and lignolytic microorganisms and so on.... As Dr. Srivastava pointed out that when applying, we should be careful that they are compatible in the given environment.
They are consortium of microbes commonly utilized to produce high quality compost rapidly and/or to remove pollutants. Most the information concerning them available in research article. Thus, you can browse from search engine using effective microbes as key term.
