To score allele sizes by fluorescence SSR marker on ABI seqeuncer, Genemapper and Peakscanner are recommended. But can you tell me the advantages and disadvantages of each? .
I find Genemapper more user friendly although the major advantage to PeakScanner is it is completely free unlike the licence fee for Genemapper. I like to add markers to identify the base pair range of each of my loci so that I can immediately focus on the correct region of the electrogram and makes it clearer when analysing more than one loci which do not overlap and I haven't found this function in PeakScanner yet but it is there in Genemapper. Please correct me if you have found it.
Yes peak scanner is free but offers very limited options. Genepmapper is a very powerfull tool for genotyping many samples enables you to build an alleles database... But this software is terribly expensive. May be Geneious can offer a reasonable solution at an affordable price. Best. JL
