Some of the organization are converting to 4 days a week working plan. While not been used to this but looks attracting when i look at my bed. This program may seem cost-effective as week and can give more leisure time
It sounds great! I worked in IT firm in Belgrade, Serbia and also have the opportunity to work 4 days a week but 10 hours in order to have 40 hours in a working week which is obligatory.

Interesting idea! But I am not sure, whether it will be good and effective compared to 5 days week, .....which is popular till date, ......particularly when 40 hours work in a week is a must.
Leisure is extremely necessary in our life. But we must keep in mind what Charles Baudelaire said,"Work is not as boring as leisure." What a great understanding!
I can't resist copying another great quotes of James A. Michener, where he has correlated "work, life and leisure" beautifully, as follows:
"The master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his information and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence at whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he’s always doing both......."
A four-day workweek sounds like a fabulous idea, but it’s not for everyone. Here are several factors to think about before switching to a four-day workweek.
It sounds like a fabulous idea, but practically it is not. Factors to think about:
· Students need to work harder to complete the required credit hours for a degree.
· The research will be prolonged.
· Students will strive for a meeting with a supervisor in his tight schedule.
· Employees working on hourly wages will be affected badly.
· Industrial income will decrease.
· Healthcare issues will rise due to long weekends in hospitals
· Tolerating troublesome kids and spouses for three days will be challenging.
· There will be a significant increase in obesity, home politics, backbiting, curiosity, laziness.
· Employees and students will miss the flow of work.
· Decrease productivity.
· It will be stressful for students and employees who have a long pending list of tasks.
YES these are issues with the FOUR DAY PLAN but working hours as mentioned in these posters signify IMPROVE JOB PERFORMANCE.
Yes the problem highlighted can be addressed.
-There could be 2 shifts for hospitals, one working on weekend and others on routine days.
-Energy saving in developing economies
-More focus on healthy activities like exercise (Do not just sit in home, go hiking) so obesity will decrease
-Academics are already shifting to online stuff. Scandinavian countries have adopted such example
-Industries can work in shifts and that will create more jobs and become more productive
Anyway just suggesting this idea, i guess we at some stage of evolution were free from this modern societal job related chains where we act more like machines and less like humans
Just an idea dear, i liked that and wanted opinions and so far many have liked that
Healthcare will only improve once government will increase funding to hospitals, doctor patient statistics be ensured, clinical audits be carried out, community level education o n primary healthcare need to increase, and so many other things.
No inconvenience intended if someone wants to work for 5 days or 6 days or the whole week, he or she still can
We have less factories and more unemployment and less revenue
We have less schools and more students and more people without education, kids in specific
We have less economic activity with more potential to improve and finally leading to low GDP
We have less hospitals with more patients and medics still unemployed
We can introduce shift working in our countries. Creating 3 extra days within these systems can accommodate more workers boost our economy, education to those who cant go to school avoiding over crowding of students and patients in the hospital and with same system delivering every day of the week leading to improved outcome for everybody
Anyway i suggest that.Looks different but still OUT OF BOX. May help developing countries
It sounds like an excellent idea. Let's start from 4 days, then move to 3 days - because 3 days looks more attractive than 4 (moreover, at least in Japan "4" is considered as unlucky number and in Japan people know best)
The best experiment has been to allow worker a 4-day work for 5-day salary. Research has shown that show that employees’ perceptions that employer cared about their well-being Improved.Employees work harder, are more satisfied and want to stay in their jobs longer.
The employees reported better job satisfaction and engagement. Team cohesiveness
10-hours-4-days a week may not work for all jobs. The existing body of literature on patient safety show that medical staff made mistakes when asked to work for longer than 8 hours days.
