Methicillin-susceptible S. aureus (MSSA) and Community-associated MRSA (CA-MRSA) isolates obtained from healthy University students that have not visited the hospital for the last 6 months and not on antibiotics were tested for their antibacterial susceptibility profiles. Last resort drugs such as daptomycin and linezolid will be included.

Great. What about vancomycin and tigecycline . I also suggest testing the old tetracycline.

Thanks for your response. For now, we are using paper antibiotic discs which I have read cannot be used for vancomycin susceptibility.

for characterization of isolates and for routine practice too, I think a complete set of antistaphylococcal drugs should be tested including Daptomycin, Linezolid, and newer drugs like Ceftaroline and Ceftobiprole. However, the frequency of resistance is low even among Hospital-acquired MRSA, that are under much higher antibiotic pressure, so I would expect that you have to screen few thousands MRSA strains to find one resistant to these agents. Would you consider to do some typing of your isolates, e. g. spa-typing or MLST? It would be interesting to know which clones are circulating in your country.
