A question to reflect on in times of a new technological look

Well, it is very doable, indeed. But for what purpose would be a more important question? For a start, a mid-price metal detector could locate it. After that, your client can do an x-ray of that area. If it is too small for an x-ray, some more precise medical diagnostic method is possible.

It is difficult for me to imagine the implantation of an NFC or RFID chip without the knowledge of the person to whom it is implanted. However, having a chip in body is not unbelievable. I recommend the method of Daniel Haman to verify the implanted chip. It would be easier if your client could indicate the likely location of the chip.

As a practicing lawyer (now an attorney-at-law, and previously an prosecutor's assessor), I know what the evidential force is in civil and criminal cases. As an author of publications on NFC / RFID, I know how chips are implanted. You're absolutely right, someone can implant an X (the client) chip while X is asleep. It is unlikely that X would not know he had a chip implanted (skin incision, wound, pain). Unless X slept for a month. You can also open your computer, tablet or smartphone and see what the chip looks like. Imagine how this piece of electronics could find its way into the human body (and how long X has to sleep in order not to notice it)? If I were to prove (eg in court) that someone has (or not) an implanted chip, I would use the method and sequence proposed by Daniel Haman. If this method fails, a psychiatrist will be of assistance. In my practice, I have encountered a situation in which someone heard a voice within himself. He tried to pull it out with scissors. The voice didn't come out, some internal organs did.

In general it can be implanted without consent, but not legally. However, coercive control is out of the bounds of any technology I know of.

NFC or RFID chips have been used extensively in pharmaceutical lab animals in the US since early 1990's. They have been tested and approved for use in livestock and personal pets (tracking a lost pet). I can only assume that hospitals may use them to follow the drugs given to long term cancer patients.

In both, tracking is quite easy. Its a variation of a card chip tracking how a customer shops in your store. My guess; in longterm care facilities, mentally impaired patients may be tracked without approval. But with a wearable chip. Except for very special circumstances an implant would be unnecessary and likely not legal.

An implant would lie just below the skin (in a fat layer).They're micro size but knowing the location might make it possible to feel it. You should be able to detect it with a NFC or RFID reader. - If not, I'd try an "ultra-sound" scan or, if needed, an x-ray. Typically in animals its located near their necks. in people in their lower arm.

But coercive control is not something I've even heard about (maybe sci-fi movies). I don't know any of any implanted chip that I described above that can receive and transmit nerve impulses.They broadcast data.

The only technology that comes close is a brain implant used along with helping a person move a prosthetic limbs. But here too, coercive control is out of the bounds of this chip. Because these chips are "programmed" for a particular persons needs I should preface that by saying, "I hope its not possible".

Everyone, including veterinary surgeons are required to register both the bar code on the syringe and the chip. They are also required to scan the animal for previous (older inserted) chips. - The same requirements and tools are required anytime a RFID chip is used. This could be to track shipments and current inventory or, more commonly, to prevent theft.

I have no doubt this, like all other technologies, is being studied and maybe used for by criminals. Its easy technology to obtain and use. As I said earlier, I hope we’re not yet capable of “cyber” enslavement.

I think that’s much more likely than any of the scenarios. Until evidence points you back here I’d ignore cyber control. My personal opinion, unless this is part of an academic research question, its rather poor to subject a patient to invasive procedures (mentally and physically) looking for cyber-control-chips than to have them evaluated by mental health professionals.

I would not recommend using a metal detector or a medical scanner (CT et al) when metal is present in animal or human tissue. Proceed only when you’re fully trained in scanning medical metals in humans and animals.

Each device varies. The manufacturers, veterinary surgeons or medical professionals should be contacted.

I don’t know of any case involving cyber control. Many cases of tracking people have been brought to the US courts. These can be tracking via chips in credit cards, cell phones or ID cards. - In the US nearly every teenager either knows or wants to know how to defeat parental tracking via cell phones. Tracking our computers and cars is a world-wide concern.

Here’s a link that adds credence to future implants that allow paralyzed or amputees to use their mind to control external devices or limbs. By adding this link I’m suggesting it lays a -conceptual- foundation for external control the activity of people, maybe a digital/electronic form of hypnosis.
