There are works that employed different sliding speed and distance. You can check tribological performance of ZA27 by Bobic, you may find relevant information.
The correct method presumes seria of specimen and independent tribological tests (fresh specimen for each rate).
We have used 5 speed at five level according to taguchi L25 orthogonal array for aluminium composite. You can also use different speeds according to your design of experiments.
You can select different speeds and study the effect of wear rate on sliding speed.
