What type of valves are BRU-A valves?
Are there different designs depending on the VVER design?
Are they motorized valves powered by direct or alternating current?
How long are BRU-A valves available during an SBO sequence?

BRU-As are fast-acting relief valves to atmosphere and they are opened in the emergency situations ( when the BRU-K (damp to condenser) is not available(during LOOP and SBO)). We can say that BRU-A is a category D passive device (motorized valve), as it works by battery. This valve is opened at 7.15 Mpa and closed at 6.27 for VVER-1000s. these valves are also used in VVER-1200s and VVER-440s, but they may have different set-points. If they fail to operate the SG- PSDs will be openned at 8.23-8.43 Mpa. As far as I know they will operate until the battery power be available (but they have a limit for being continuously open for 8 hours).
BRU-A valves are used for Emergency services (like accidental ) and these are generally motor operated with solenoid(ball valve). Quick operation.
