Hello,

During conventional virus assay what percentage (%) of detected proteins are from complete virions vs. just protein fragments detected?

For example the VP proteins of Ebola are inside of the Ebola membrane and not visible, only visible and detected via bits and pieces of it broken up in the blood stream, whereas GP1 receptor is partially visible in the intact virion.  Ie.  when performing these assays is there just as much broken up virus trash floating around the blood stream as intact virions?

Accordingly, what distribution of blood proteins in general during virus blood test assays detected are from intact virions vs. bits of broken up proteins?

Much Thanks:)
