If you want to simulate IPv6 for "teaching" or "learning" purposes then you can simulate it using a presentation software with animation capabilities such as PowerPoint. I created a "simulation" of the CSMA/CD MAC protocol in PowerPoint to present the main parts of the protocol to a class of graduate students. I can upload the presentation for your perusal if you are interested.

If want to simulate IPv6 to study its behaviour then you can simulate it using JavaScript. For visualization of the protocol and statistics of your system consider using a vector-based graphics software (such as PowerPoint) to create the graphics and import them as form icons in PDF using Acrobat. I have reproduced my PowerPoint presentation in PDF using form elements with dynamic graphics and user interaction, and using JavaScript with the Acrobat/JavaScript API. Again, this recreation was used for "teaching" and "learning" purposes and not for studying the system. Nevertheless I think it is possible to perform analysis using these same tools.

If you are interested, the programming method I use to create JavaScript programs in PDF (and the related documentations) can be found in "Net Elements and Annotations for Computer Programming".
