hello

i want to apply vegetation suppression using the forced invariance method on satellite images

as described in articles (a,b) to could get a better lithological mapping in strongly vegetated areas.

in these, the equation used as follow after plotting the NDVI vs band digital numbers:

Pnew = Poriginal × (Ptarget/PNDVI)

here, Pnew is the new pixel value, Poriginal is the original pixel value, Ptarget is the bandwise

target value and PNDVI is the corresponding NDVI value.

but i cant understand the Ptarget and how should i define that

in fact we have scatter plot showing the distribution of DN values for each band vs the calculated vegetation index e.g. NDVI like image below

a smooted curve is determined for that and used in equation to suppress the vegetation effect on pixel values

how should i define Ptarget in this equation

can anyone describe in more practical way how do i apply that

or how should i define Ptarget values for pixels

thanks previously
