Stakeholders are frequently engaged during the design process as a matter of course and their input frequently disregarded if incongruent with the designer's intentions, particularly in architecture at statutory planning stages. There is an increasing body in the ICT systems design and participatory design literatures (cf. Iversen and Leong, Shilton, etc.), however this approach doesn't seem to appear in architecture or building design literature. Is anyone aware of any approaches to engaging stakeholder or client values in architecture or building design please? Even semi-vague references are helpful!
