Hi,
what is the opinion of the community on the use of the Probability Density Plots (PDP) implemented in Isoplot versus the use of the Kernel Density Estimation (KDE) of Vermeesch (2012) implemented in Density Plotter for comparisons of detrital zircon age data? I notice that PDP's often have confusingly many peaks in particular when the data is very precise and/or there are not so many analyses or when the data is very scattered with few real peaks. On the other hand, in KDE's there seems to be a "good chance" of oversmoothing the data. Playing with the "bandwith" can obviously produce plots that look like a smoothed PDP.
