Have any efforts been made to develop universal primers (across the angiosperms, but particularly in the Caryophyllales) for the flower development loci - APETALA, PISTILLATA & AGAMOUS /or orthologs? Would it be possible? I´m assuming yes, as these loci must have conserved regions? refs?
I agree there should be conserved regions to develop primers from. If you have the sequence for a species for these loci use angiosperm transcriptome ngs data + my software https://github.com/rachelss/GFR to get additional sequences + rerun gfr on each species separately to get better data. Design primers off those alignments.
