Dear all,
As per my understanding, we use Young's modulus of elasticity of the material when it is under the linear range and we use secant/tangential modulus of elasticity when it is in the inelastic range.
The material I am concerned with is "concrete" and I am dealing only in the "linear range". So, my confusion is whether the codes (like ACI, Eurocode) are based on Young's modulus or some other? If it is based on modulus other than Young's, [sounds rediculous but] is there any way of converting them from one form to another?
Any explanation or ideas on this would be very helpful.

Shaymaa Abdelghany: Thank you for your answer. However, I don't think it addresses my overall question. It only talks about the definition of those terms and nothing about its significance, conversion from one modulus to other, and most importantly it doesn't tell which modulus of elasticity is followed by code(s) and the reason for its acceptance.
In different parts of ACI and Eurocode linear or nonlinear behavior are used. I mean both are used and are useful, each for different purposes.
