One of my experiment where i add crop residue (Byre waste) and Lucaena loppings to replace chemical ferilizer (nitrogen). So i observe increase in org carbon content but pH what happens with it. It is also very important character. As most of the nutrints availability depends on it.
It long term experiment conduted on same site for 30 years. Please note this.
Well,Archana , it is good to know that you area carrying 3 decade old long experiments.However, as mentioned by you, one thing is for sure that pH MAY EITHER DECREASE OR REMAIN STAGNATING.
This is due to the fact that continuous use of organic matter will add to certain qty. of biological acids,however the soil type and further water quality of irrigation water may further govern the directions.If your water is having extra salts,then no way pH is going to decline.However under ideal conditions, assuming that irrigation water is canal irrigated water or very good quality tubewell water,it will definitely tend to decrease in combination of addition of organic manure.You must be having the pH values over thirty years,so what is the trend?
In smectite soils( which i suppose experiment must be in progress over 30 years from now), its not surprising that you dont find any distinctive change in soil pH, since these soils have very high buffering capacity . Have you done any exercise to have nutrient budgeting like exercise with Lucaena loppings to replace chemical ferilizer (nitrogen) . Have you ever quantified the amount of loppings adding carbon turnover over 30 years , which fraction ( Active or passive fraction so to say) of soil SOC, the added carbon is seggregating over the years....

Srivastava sir i had done N budgeting as i am adding lucaena loppings and crop residue on the basis of N content. Also done the Carbon sequestration of all 10 treatments. Carbon budgeting not yet done. If you help how and what should be done i will definately do. as it increase the quality of my project.. Thank you very much sir.

Please try to separate different pools of soil SOC to throw some light , where this added carbon is getting pooled up...
