But we have to be equally cautitous about the use of nano-fertilizers...
Nano fertilizers pose some risks and problem towards the health and soil environment.
The initial studies performed for nano materials have shown serious health hazards and showed toxic effects to human body .
Nano particles used for the delivery of fertilizers to plants poses serious threat to the microbial fabric of the soil as ecosystem causing membrane damage, reducing the annual growth of grass, depletion photosynthesis in various algae.
In routine waste water treatment plants, Results showed serious impacts on plant - microbe interaction, affecting N2 fixing symbiosis for which metals used for developing nano fertilizers are considered highly sensitive.
There could be many more..so we need to exercise some caution before going outright for wide scale used of nano fertilizers..
For achieving this target we have to focus on awareness among farmers regarding adopting nano fertilizers in farm. for detailed information please follow the link... https://bioinfopublication.org/files/articles/9_7_3_IJAS.pdf

As every other new technology ,Nano particles have two charges positive and negative one ,each of them depend on how people use it .Please look at pending files:
Nano structured formulation through mechanisms such as targeted delivery or slow/controlled release mechanisms and conditional release, could release their active ingredients in response to environmental triggers and biological demands more precisely -Great. But, this mechanisms can be delivered by microbes naturally with microbial meta-genomics in soil nutrient use efficiency and agro-geology, we can avoid Nano fertilizer because the biomarker science for nano sciences toxicology is still very young. That is why the future of crop cultivation and pollution management is biofertilizer for soil / water and microbial genomics for air pollution.
Yes, I think nano fertilizer is the future of agriculture!
But in my point of view, it is very important to choose the right method and time of nano fertilizer application. To we get maximum benefit from nanoparticles, should not only be applied in proper time but should also be given careful consideration. Choice of method of fertilizer and its time application mainly depends on: Type of crop we are taking, kind and characteristic of soil, nature of nanoparticles we are applying, irrigation intervals and the other agronomic practices.
Being researcher, I fully encourage you to work on it. Now please read answer, it may be opposite.
Nano fertilizer is the future of agriculture?
Nano fertilizer means you are going make most concentrated and smallest nutrient material.
1. it could be full toxin and heat up the soil. Affect the soil fertility by disturbing soil texture and structure.
2. full chances to be maximum loss via application and irrigation
3. Inappropriate distribution in filed
4. Does it work with organic matter already applied to field (FYM etc)?
BUT, nano fertilizer, if combined with organic fertilizers or organic manures, then it could be advantageous. It may help to follow the goal of '' High yield by protecting environment''
let us also consider about improving the nutrient-use-efficiency through nano-fertilizers like Fe and Mn in calcareous soils, and , Zn in most of the soil , with an ultimate objective of producing nutrient dense crops, is it a possibility...??
