It is a good model, can generate xenograft tumor reproducibly in both orthotropically and in flank of the nude mice. However, I am not sure how truthfully this model represent the glioblastoma in patient. Most of the good journals now prefer the patient derived glioma lines. We are currently moving away from this model...
I agree with you and tha's the reason why I would like to have your opinion. GBM is an infiltrative tumor....using U87MG cell grafts we only obtained tumor bulck but no infiltrated cells....on a other hand this cell line seemed to be a good model to work on cancer stem cell...
U251 is very infiltrative... they have good amount of GSC..you can try that model. I would recommend patient derived GBM line. Dr David James from UCSF neurosurgery has a lot of such line. may be you can ask him..
Thank you for your answer and this information. I will ask him for such cell lines or primary cell cultures. I try with U251 cell lines but it's difficult to publish with because it's not possible to buy this cell line...and we have to justify their origin...
