Just like you rightly noted it depends on the field of research. However, in management and social sciences research a paper publication cycle can be complete within 8month-3years. There are time gaps for many reasons- sometimes from the Journal and/or the researcher perspective.

It depends on the discipline and the journal's editors, It takes between three to six month, the earliest.
Each scientific journal has a clear policy and instructions for filing research, arbitrators and auditors, clearly drawn, ranging from one month to more than one year
Generally, it varies from 3 months to 1.5 years for different journals.
Depends on npurnal and field. In business in good journals, but not top ones, 6 months to a year.
Mine have varied ... earliest was about a year whereas the longest was nearly four years.
The time to review and accept a paper varies from one journal to another but in general it is at least six months
