Some of you have had the experience of helping a colleague, a co-worker or a fellow and after they have turned their backs on you or simply believe they know more than you and think they are superior, I would like to know if anyone has had these experiences in their career as researchers.
Often! I have had such experiences in my past.
There was this one colleague ( classmate) of mine in my B.Sc. who was a big BIMBO - Beauty without a Brain.
She used to over do everything, literally everything. I don't like such people who are fake and pretend to be enlightened with knowledge but in reality are daft.

Rarely . But simply ignore. May be some of our Guru's has same feeling about us. Anthor danger to observe is, the man whom you want to help, discuss with others about content of work, to create the atmosphere, that the work is his brainchild. Of course, there are very good natured people, also reciprocated us. Ignorance is bliss.
Of course. You can find such coworkers anywhere. I am glad academic career gives me quite a lot of freedom to choose people to collaborate with. In some other jobs it is not possible.
I've been on the receiving end of this a few times when training,with people who said they would help/offer support/co-research etc,and then disappear when the work needed to be done.
It led to a couple of projects being completely abandoned,and to be honest,left me rather unwilling to bother with research until meeting Iris Grunwald,an amazing neuroradiologist whom many of you will be aware of,and a group of other superbly talented and modest researchers,inc.Klaus Fassbender who made me realise that my own humble efforts could be useful,and gave me the ability to provide some input to their projects.
To those people,I offer my thanks for quite honestly re-booting my enthusiasm for a lot of things.
