Thoughts about relative intensity change of SERS spectrum in H/D exchange?

Why in SERS pf protein apart from frequency, relative intensity also changes upon H/D exchange? In normal Raman people report it as a change in nature of mode as a result of H/D exchange (probably redistribution of PED)? In SERS can there be an additional effect? Can protein also adsorb differently in the presence of D2O? Any literature discussing those phenomenon would be of great help.
