Soil penetration resistance is an important mechanical property that can be used as an indicator of soil compaction and is important in determining the least limiting water range. However, the use of a "Dynamic Penetrometer" for assessment of soil mechanical resistance is not recommended for saturated fine soils, why?

I believe that saturated fine grained soils are going to liquefy when it is subjected to dynamic loading and soil loose its shear strength during this period due to reduced effective stress. This phenomenon is temporary and the mechanical resistance as measured during this period is lesser than the actual. In view of the same dynamic penetrometer is not recommended for these type of soils..ok all the best in your research work..
In saturated fine soil, pore pressure developed due to water will give wrong results in case of dynamic penetration test. If water is not allowed to expel ( undrained condition), excess pore pressure will reduce shear strength of soil. In drained condition, fine soils will get compressed and arrangement of soil particles will get disturbed leading to lower value of shear strength of soil. These effects will be predominant in fine sandy soil. In clayey soil cohesion will be less in saturated condition.
