Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are produced endogenously and exogenously which indicates they are influenced by both internal and external origin.
I was thinking. If we are measuring the stress status of a particular organism by observing the response of antioxidant enzymes system towards oxidants. In the perspective of in vivo study, how do we can tell the response of antioxidant system whether they are responding towards oxidants in the extend of endogenous or exogenous origin.
Is it possible for us to know this?

Mohamad Sofi Abu Hassan there's no way we can measure the activity of a particular antioxidant against it's specific oxidant or ROS. However, by measuring the amount of a particular antioxidant, the amount of its corresponding ROS can be determined. This is because under physiological condition, a balance exists between the antioxidant and ROS. For example, the smaller the amount of catalase, the higher the amount of hydrogen peroxide radical, and vice versa
