In his discussion of the philosophy of fasting, the Islamic jurist and thinker "Muhammad Al-Ghazali" says that "fasting is a strange or reprehensible act of worship in the atmosphere of material civilization that prevails in the world." That civilization that “believes in the body, and does not believe in the spirit, and believes in the immediate life, and does not care about the Last Day! Hence, it hates worship that restricts lusts - even for a while - and disciplines this spoiled body, and obliges it to a higher example”[5]. Hence comes the specificity of fasting over other rituals. There is nothing that makes a person abandon his animal instinct except that which develops in him his human responsibility
