Sorry, I'm a handsurgeon and i see every day, that needles can touch the little nerves. Elastic properties are not involved. I'm working on a anatomical translation of the socalled acupuncture points. The tenderness of the points is simply a Hoffmann-Tinel reaction.

Sorry...as an anatomist and an acupuncturist i can say that most Patients do not experience any tingling, numbness or pain from the needle insertion.

The de qi is not about pain. The acupuncturist can feel it with the needle. If there is improper needle placement there can be pain .
