Many rapid changes are taking place in the education domains, this will have an effect on the definition and the roles of Professors, are they educators, facilitators, researchers, authors, thinkers.. what is the best combination of words giving a modern definition nowadays where e learning is expected to boom.
A person with a wide scientific background in his field of specialization and characterized by many morals and virtuous values.
Modern Professor should have all characteristics listed plus always improve himselve.

I think we are all things to the students that you have listed and more! We are counselors, advisors (academic, personal, financial, career, etc.) problem solvers, resources just to name a few! We have replaced critical thinking because of the technological access 24/7, they will ask us rather than do their own research! "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." Somehow we are missing the teaching of fishing!

In addition to the mentioned definitions of professors let me add "student". some times, professors should be student and to think as a student and checking the view point from this other side (student) to adapt his/their opinion, lecture, masters or Ph.D review..........etc
This is to be give a well final job according to the mentioned definitions.
Professors give good discussion for under graduate and/or post graduate students.
Professors give simple curriculum as educators.
Professors simplify difficulties as facilitators.
Professors give innovative plan as researchers for M.Sc. and Ph.d students.
Professors produce current ideas books and scientific essays as authors.
Professors imaginations about futures as thinkers.
Professor to be productive and has the aforementioned definitions should be first a student to produce perfect job.
Future skills also should be considered "updated professors"

Dear Najib Abou Karaki, I think that a definition of the university teacher requires overcoming the idea of the pedagogical subject of modernity and accepting a cyber subject, who is now a producer and consumer of heterogeneous content.
The university teacher should be a mix of technology, PC tools, humanity, holistic and leader

University professor must have both academic knowledge as well as technology knoweldege of pc and modern technology . He should be humble too
The title: "Professor" is just a level of maturity via too many academic scaled brilliance with achievements.
