The affects of isomorphism on strategy implanting is not difficult to understand. Fist of all we must think when does isomorphism take place? Then, we must understand ecology approach for the organizations. Finally it will be clear for us to see the relation between strategies and strategy implanting alternatives. So we can say that, the causes which make the isomorfism occur effect the strategy implantation as a environmental factors do.
Hi Desmond, today I read a research on the mission phrases in health sector (hospitals) in USA, Turkey and India very great similarities are found. We observe an isomorphism, but, this is very strange because environmental factors are very different in these countries. We try to understand the reasons.
My question would be what you intend to explain. Certainly, strategies may be in line with isomorphic pressures in the organizational field based on mimetic processes, professionalization, or regulation. The key to understanding the relation between isomorphism and strategy implementation is legitimacy. Actors are searching for strategies that enhance the legitimacy of their own organizational actions because legitimacy provides access to resources. However, more recent developments in institutional theory emphasize the role of institutional entrepreneurs that actively attempt to change the rules of the game. Institutional entrepreneurs challenge the status quo and may interpret isomorphic pressures in the organizational fields differently than the typical followers. You may find more on this in our review on institutional entrepreneurship:
Thanks Aykut and Markus. I am researching Strategy implementation in Statutory Corporations in the Barbados public sector. This is relatively new research and I am using Institutional theory, hence the questions and discussion. In a few days God Willing I will upload some more of my thoughts in this regard.
