Wouldn't we need a devastating war, wiping out most of the existing power structures (peasants don’t count, obviously), and ending in a stalemate where no site has the hope of forcing the others? Joke aside, the GoT version of Brexit seems a bit costly, to put it mildly. And at the risk of sharing Samwell Tarly’s fate: Maybe we let the people decide. Not only the people in Britain, who already voted, but also the people within the rest of the EU, deciding whether or not the EU has to compromise. Somehow, that possibility has escaped all commentators I’ve ever heard.
