I have a question.
Please, what are the dimensions of the resulted image from CT while it is working to scan the patient ? It produces axial images, then reconstructs them to produce coronal, sagittal, & oblique planes. So, what is the dimension of the axial image? is it only having one dimension in z-axis, two dimensions or all the three dimensions are included due to the movement of the machine during scanning?
If the CT takes the images but the table containing the patient is stopped, what are the dimensions of the resulted images ? Are they in two dimensions? Can we consider it as a routine x-ray machine that producing 2D-images (plain film)?
The dimensions of axial images usually is 512x512 or 256x256; they are 2D.
Also when the table is stopped, 2D axial images are produced.
It is not like an X-ray machine. An X-ray image is also 2D, but it is a conical projection. The CT scanner creates many 1D projections, and from those a 2D image is reconstructed.

While it is true that fan-beam CT scanners perform 2D reconstructions on many 1D projections, cone-beam CT scanners on the other hand perform 3D reconstructions on many 2D projections and in a much shorter examination time.

True enough. Balsam Fahad Sofi asked about when the table is stopped, so that's about a fan-bean CT.
