It really depends on what material, as different polymers have different tendencies for interchain interactions and therefore poly crystallite formation. Usually, a thin film is deposited from a polymer solution. The deposition morphology can be controlled to some extent by the characteristics of the substrate - e.g. crystallinity (mica, silicon, gold) or surface treatment (hydrophobicity, hydrophillicity, functionalisation).

please use poly(caprolactone) from solution. This polyester easily crystallizes on different surfaces.

You can use "chemical vapor deposition (CVD)" Technique enables production of pure coatings of metals or polymers.
