I run one OCP measurement with corrosion cell using saturated calomel electrode as reference electrode, Metal plate as working electrode, Graphite as counter electrode. As far as my knowledge is concerned I connected the cell in proper manner only. But I saw the voltage vs time graph in OCP is showing in an irregular and abnormal manner. I tried to troubleshoot it with multiple ways. Can someone help me with the same. Thank you.

not knowing exactly the parameters of the electrochemical measurement and the corrosive environment in which it is performed, as a first attempt I would try, if you haven't already done so, to do a test with a "standard dummy cell" to check that there are no problems due to the instrument ...

Dear Sajna Ss I used origin pro to make The Nyquist plots electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) based on the Electrochemical corrosion test. I used for better result 2-electrode electrochemical cell with a carbon rod serving as the reference electrode (RE) and an aluminum alloy sheet serving as the working electrode (WE) for OCP (open circuit potential). Actually result also depend on the size of working electrode (WE) and Scanning potentials. In my case I used for The Autolab PGSTAT204 electrochemical workstation but still not get better result. The fluctuations of your OCP curves are due to the design of the electrochemical cell; probably to the distance between the working electrode and the reference one. Also it is necessary to check the preparation of the surface of the working electrode, have you cleaned this electrode by the electrochemical degassing?

It may be necessary to analyze the noise spectra to identify the specific cause.
4. Sometimes, the presence of zigzag lines may be a result of instrument or measurement artifacts. Faulty equipment, poor electrode connections, or inadequate shielding can introduce noise or interference into the measurements, leading to irregular patterns in the recorded OCP.
