The earth itself provides a natural insulator, which drastically reduces the energy consumption for heating and cooling buildings, leading to lower carbon emissions and more energy-efficient cities. Furthermore, underground structures are inherently more resilient to natural disasters like earthquakes, hurricanes, and extreme temperatures, offering a safer and more stable environment.
