Hi, the temperature sensor on my ancient 5417R has finally given up. Might anyone have a spare sensor, or a 5417R lying in disuse that could be scavenged from?
Any help would be appreciated as the Eppendorf people inform that parts for this great centrifuge have been discontinued.

Trouble is they don't ship internationally. But I should be able to work around that.
John, although I have never had the necessity to change the temperature sensor in your specific model of centrifuge, I did run into a similar situation with an older Beckman Ultracentrifuge L 55 for which parts are no longer produced. The temp sensor is glued under the metal plate around the spindle. If the part was available, it would cost a few hundred $ but the unavailability necessitated a little poking around. The temp sensor turned out to be a basic $4 common variety part and the repair only required to glue the new one in place of the old one. Perhaps you could take out your sensor and try to find out the actual specifications of the part - chances are fairly good that Eependorf isn't using anything remarkably different or unique - it might save you some money.
