Approach to designed greenery has changed drastically in the last few decades. There have been fruitful discussions on urban designer/architects’ role in morphing urban greenery, however, much remains unexamined regarding particular relationship between users, technology and the evolution of urban greenery. How did (/does) technology shape urban greenery? I would appreciate ideas on place specific users feedback/involvement from dense city fabrics. Thanks.
Dear Mamun, this is an important topic worth examining. I have come across many interesting works regarding technology and architecture, but not too many regarding technology and greenery. But there must be a whole lot of development in the field of landscape architecture! Different types of plants and trees, when suitably selected and grown in the context on built/unbuilt environment, can upgrade the performance of such spaces in architecture and urban scale. For instance they can filter air pollution, provide shadow and sun when needed. It would be interesting to have online registry where one can add characteristics of every tree in the city, especially in a place/cities in the middle east, where trees are an asset and rarity.
