I have read in several papers different TDCS protocols depending on what we want to improve. But considering that there is a great heterogeneity in patients with brain injury (eg: affecting an hemisphere, a cortical region, multifocal regions...), I would like to know if "general" tdcs protocols are supposed to be effective in these group of patients or if the stimulation should be personalized to specific injured areas - or not, because we are avoiding related areas connected through fasciculi and other conections.
But I am still confused. For example, in patients with diffuse axonal injury... Would be necessary a general or a personalized protocol? And if it is personalized, based on what criteria (EEG, MRI...)?
Regarding other transcranial stimulation options (TACS and TRNS), when would TACS or TRNS has to be used instead of TDCS? If we want to stimulate two different areas (eg: from two differente hemispheres), should TACS be better than TDCS?
Thanks in advance.
