Tourism is one of the growing sectors of the new millennium with massive share of contribution to the economy and employment etc. In this backdrop would it be safe to say that Tourism is a source of sustainable livelihood.
Your question does not have an answer in scientific sence. First, since tourism is not a homogenous or unified sector, with great contextual variations, no blanket statements would do it justice. Second, you include a highly contested concept of sustainability, which, based your first premise, you seem to equate with economic development and with which many authors would not agree. This having said, tourism definitely can, in some cases, be a source of sustainable livelihood. I can recommend some good further reading on this topic.

I think that it is difficult for tourism to be a source of sustainable livelihood in absolute because it is different from many industries. Tourism is often seasonal and it is very much related to security stability. For example, when a terrorist event occurs, tourism stops and many workers in tourism are lost their jobs. Therefore, Governments should provide many guarantees to make tourism a source of sustainable livelihood.

I do agree with both previous replies by @Lusine and @Yehia; tourism does not necessarily cause sustainability. It should, however, be constantly adjusted to stand in line with and towards sustainable strategies and goals.
The developments should not affect cost of living of locals, hence it need to be evaluated time to time. Livelihood sustainability mostly depends on participation approach which need to be encouraged at local level particularly in rural tourism destinations.
No I do not belive in all tourism activities as sustainable ones. If you destroy your landmarks for constructing hotels or dO other similar activities, I think this is a good example for unsustainability.
