Many researchers have proposed that PROP status can be linked to food consumption which can have an impact to individual's health; risk to diet-related diseases such as diabetes. However, there's no definite conclusion on this matter. Any opinions?
Results are inconclusive. Some show that PROP sensitivity is related to dietary choices especially cruciferous vegetables, and some show no relationship. This might be due to differences in methodology. I wouldn't go as far as to relate it to diabetes, but there certainly are reasons to believe that it does affect the hedonic value of certain foods. Environmental factors do affect it in the later stages of life, but those effects of PROP are especially visible in children.
