One of the popular methods in analysis of strength of material is FEM (Finite Element Method). by meshing the subjected element to fine areas, the overall characteristics of material is determined. I am one of lovers of Fuzzy Logic and recently I have confronted with some researches that based on Fuzzy method and the number of membership functions, material strength parameters are considered accordingly.
It is my main point of question that is the effectiveness of Fuzzy logic same as FEM or not? In other words, the results of which method is more closer to real values of material?
My belief is the advantage of Fuzzy Logic in the possibility of assessment uncertain conditions and capability of analysis even in undetermined conditions which both of them could not be found in FEM, but the speed of calculation and easiness of mesh size increasing in pre-determined conditions are main points of Finite Element Method.
