would anyone have information to how the PBMC pellets can be stored?
after Ficoll and washing with PBS or HBSS can the PBMC pellet be stored frozen in -80deg? or does it have to be resuspended in an appropriate medium before storing

Resuspend the cells in freshly prepared ice-cold freezing medium (10% DMSO/KoSR), the freezing medium should be prepared freshly and kept on ice before use. Transfer aliquots into each labeled cryogenic vial. Store them in the freezing container (for example Mr.Frosty®) and keep them in a -80 °C overnight. Next day transfer the vials to the liquid nitrogen tank.
We use 90% KoSR(You may use FBS) + 10% DMSO and it works fine. This is general protocol for freezing cells.

Hi Mansha, I wish to store the pellets for about a year. Currently we are not sure if to use them for RNA extraction or for tissue culture yet.
