I have done the hydrologic design required for construction of a flood wall along a riverbank and determined the design flood elevation and now I'm looking for some readable material with step by step guidelines for its hydraulic and structural design so as to determine its dimensions and verify its stability. Are there any thumb rules or formulae for initial calculation of the foundation depth, crest and base width of the flood wall along with other dimensions, similar to those in case of check dams (e.g., Foundation depth = 0.4 times the height of check dam)?
