I want to study the difference in efficacy of Drug A when it is taken before 20 weeks of gestation vs when it is taken after 20 weeks of gestation. The variables that I will be using to determine the effectiveness of the Drug A before and after 20 weeks are X, Y, Z.
I have two questions regarding this:
1. How do I calculate the best sample size?
2. Which statistical analysis do you think is best that I use?

A) obviously the more data you can collect the better. However, you could try to perform some kind of power calculation to determine the minimum sample size
B) The type of analysis depends on several factors, e.g. (1) are variables a single measurement or are the measurements taken at multiple time points per patient (2) are the variables X,Y, Z categorical or continuous?
