I have synthesized Magnetite Nanoparticles using co-precipitation method, when I try to characterize it by using TEM, the particles are agglomerated, making it difficult to observe. what kind of solvent that i have to use
Might be, its magnetite nanoparticles surface property.
After nanoparticles synthesis, centrifuged nanoparticle solution at 20000 rpm for 20 minutes (repeats this process three times) after removing supernatent collect pellets, wash with Milli Q water (3-4 times), at 15000 rpm for 15 minutes, sonicate nanoparticles pellets for 5-10 minutes, add 3/4 drops of nanoparticle solution on TEM grid dry it under IR lamp for 20 minutes and observed with TEM/HR-TEM techniques.
If you want to prevent the agglomeration, you have to modify surface of your magnetite nanoparticles. Unless you attach any ligand to your particles, they will tend to agglomerate eventually. You may try to apply vortex or sonication but these are not definite solutions as well.
You may try to apply magnetic vortex or sonication and in same time you may use acetone which then you can get rid of it by heating the solution upper than 55 c
