I have synthesised curcuminoid-based compounds to test against my target protein. These compounds are highly hydrophobic and show poor solubility in aqueous buffers. I initially dissolved them in 100% DMSO, but upon dilution with buffer, the compounds precipitated, making them unsuitable for bioassays.
I tried adding Tween 80, and the solubility improved to some extent. Are there any other suitable strategies or additives to enhance aqueous solubility or prevent precipitation during dilution? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated
