Starting from 2012 with CERN, next step was LIGO in 2016 and last project is EHT.
All of the above had one specific task to perform and all were a 'great success' with their relevant Nobel prize.
I had worked extensively for the LIGO affair, but nobody, except from a few open minded scientists, gave attention...
Now they want to convince us about the existence and observation of 'black holes'...
But tell me something:
- What else do you think that has been left to be "discovered" or "proven" by using the same "good practice"?
(I mean a large international Project with hundreds of authors and with Hollywood blockbuster promotion methods).
What is next?

But anti-matter with anti-gravity will be a surprise discovery of this project.

And which is the budget of that project?
If we suppose that such a hypothesis ("the behaviour of an antimatter particle inside the gravitational field of Earth) is a task for a billion euros project like CERN, then what are we expecting to find?
We all know that gravity does not care about the composition of material test particle: the only parameter under consideration is mass "m" and nothing else.
So, why do we need to spend (again) an enormous amount of money in order to prove such a trivial results?
I think escaping the tautological science paradigm:
A=?
A=B=?; B=C;
A=B=C=?
...
A=?
that makes science merely descriptive (!) and a circular reasoning (!) would be a greater achievement than adding additional features while not getting necessarily a better understanding of the subject.
On the other hand, explicative (!) science while avoiding the enclosure-issue requires enclosure overcoming mathematics (cf. Number form theory) and a structural theory of Consciousness (cf. Structure wave theory).
Yes, but meanwhile we just drop money from helicopter to giant projects that "must prove" something inside a deadline...
Well, this is so called science and that what scientists have to and should do. Sometimes a discovery doesn’t reflect any direct benefits for the society, even some students say this is just show off, and Bla Bla Bla but this is how our theories can be proven. Like CERN recently predicted the Higgs Boson which was theoretically presented in around 1964. Then LIGO, the Gravitational waves (a proof of the theory after almost 100 years later), and now Event Horizon Telescope, the ETH. This is how we can progress, this is how our understanding about the universe is getting stronger and stronger and this is how we can think of new things. We know much about the universe but still there are a lot to know about, like Super Symmetry (SUSY), Anti-matter, Dark Energy, Dark Matter, Extra Dimensions and much more.

What we see last years is not scientific progress, it is just the deadline(s) of heavily funded projects and -guess what- all the scheduled tasks were successful performed.(one way or another)

Dear Demetris. Nothing new is likely to follow; may be only the repeat of the same stuff, if at all! The “experimental confirmation” of singularity means the end of all debates and the confirmation of the absolute truth of GR. It also means the end of physics. Physics has nothing more to know or do. Physics has eaten up the “Tree of Knowledge” along with itself! It is like the story of a mythical voracious dragon that ate up everything in sight. But it was so hungry that it started to eat its own tail and ended eating up itself and went out of existence!
The end of century long deception by official physics is nearing and is at hand! Ironically, this end was hastened by official physics itself in their over-eagerness and haste to “Seal the Deal forever” ; as grave doubts about the theories of relativity are gaining momentum around the world; even in RG forums; please see at least the following two:

Long ago, Arthur Eddington, the biggest promoter of the theories of relativity in a royal society publication dismissed the idea of gw with the following words: [only speed of propagation relevant to them is “the speed of thought”].
On the question of BH, the Emperor (in whose name this big fraud is promoted) was even more emphatic to dismiss such a possibility with the following conclusion: "The essential result of this investigation is a clear understanding as to why the "Schwarzschild singularities" do not exist in physical reality. Although the theory given here treats only clusters whose particles move along circular paths it does not seem to be subject to reasonable doubt that more general cases will have analogous results. The "Schwarzschild singularity" does not appear for the reason that matter cannot be concentrated arbitrarily. And this is due to the fact that otherwise the constituting particles would reach the velocity of light.

I think it is one of the most laconic descriptions of current situation.
However I see that many RGers want to be forbidden any denial of relativity theories.
Do we enter in dark times again?

It is possible, but not very likely. The crusaders in RG are now more or less silenced. Moreover, the ruling elite of modern times learnt lessons from history in dealing with their own heretics. They know that putting the heretics under the guillotine or burning on the Stake only makes the heretics gain fame and get eternal life! Now, the tactics is to kill them through indifference; by just ignoring them and making sure that they do not get any publicity. I have been publishing journal articles (in obscured journals, of course!) and books against the theories of relativity for more than a decade; but getting very little attention! The heretic in chief of modern times, Halton (Chip) Arp (a personal friend); is one of the greatest astronomer/astrophysicist of this epoch (about 240 galaxies – the so-called peculiar galaxies bear his name), some people call him the Galileo of modern times. He passed away in Dec. 2013 in Munich; un-noticed and uncared for. You get the feeling from official science as if this man never existed and few people even know his name now! After being expelled from any astronomical facilities in USA, Chip got some refuge in the Max-Planck Institute in Garching near Munich, where his astronomer wife was also working. But Chip was avoided by other scientists in the Institute as if he had plague! He told me during a meeting in Munich that he sees other scientists of the Institute only while playing tennis! So much for modern heretics; any potential ones, be warned!

Eddington raised his doubt about GWs back in 1922, the following is some extracts from his paper: The Proceedings of the Royal Society of London, Series A, Containing Papers of a Mathematical and Physical Character. "So far as I know, the propagation of the absolute physical condition – the altered cuevature of space-time –- has not hitherto been discussed. Weyl** has classified plane GWs into three types, viz.: (1) longitudinal – longitudinal; (2) longitudinal- transverse; (3) transverse- transverse. The present investigation leads to the conclusion that transverse- transverse waves are propagated with the speed of light in all systems of co-ordinates. Waves of the first and second types have no fixed velocity – a result which rouses suspicion as to their objective existence. Einstein had also become suspicious of these waves (in so far as they occur in his special co=ordinate-system) for another reason, because he found that they convey no energy.

As for the idea of the God Particle (Higgs boson), it was challenged at least from 2007 onwards, in the Guardian science, specially in the Blog “Life and Physics” by Prof. Jon Butterworth, Head of Physics, UCL; and also the Leader of the British Team with LHC/ATLAS.

I agree, the worse penalty is ignorance.
However keep in mind that occasionally, when a player insists and cannot be defeated, the all time classic solution of 'deleting' holds also in our days.
I think situation is clear:
- the entire set of relativity theories is a modern prison: you cannot do this, neither that, so be a good being, stay in your planet, consume what we give you, vote us and so on...
- even if some extraordinary results spontaneously come out, next day they are being corrected

I am not so pessimistic. But I agree that these theories of physics probably would be used as ruling ideas as long as monopoly capitalism exists in its present form.
But there is wide-spread doubt about these fantastic claims of official physics. Also, the scientific, logical and moral refutation of these ruling theories of physics have largely been completed. Please see the following copy of a comment in a relevant forum:

Your comment is to the point. I think ICE cube is waiting or the CERN upgrade. Both might detect some arbitrary surprise in their data and claim it's related to some supersymmetric fantasy particle.
Btw, you might not be aware to how many scientists your critical comments on LIGO were encouraging. LIGO fails now to deliver on the promised results.
